AbstractCarcinogenesis springs from the combined forces of both genetic and epigenetic events. The role of epigenetic modification in the progression of carcinoma has been suggested by a lot of evidences in recent years. An epigenetic event alters the activity of genes without changing their structure. Gastrointestinal tumor is the most common cancer in China, and the investigation of epigenetic modification is significant in cell immunity, phylaxis, cell differentiation and preventive therapy.
