Abstract
AIM: To investigate the expression characteristics of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), topoisomerase Ⅱ (TopoⅡ) and glutathione S-transferase π (GST-π) in gastric carcinoma as well as their effects on the prognosis of patients.
METHODS: The expression of P-gp, TopoⅡ and GST-π in 130 patients with gastric carcinoma were detected by immunohistochemistry and some patients were followed up for more than two years to analyze the relationship between the expression of P-gp, TopoⅡ and GST-π and the clinical prognosis of patients.
RESULTS: The positive rate of P-gp, TopoⅡ and GST-π expression in gastric carcinoma were 23.85%, 80.77% and 75.38% respectively. The expression of P-gp and GST-π were associated with tumor size, and the positive rates of P-gp and GST-π in patients with tumor size more than 5 cm in diameter were significantly higher than those in ones with tumor size less than 5 cm in diameter (χ2 = 4 ......
