Significance of detection of sex hormone and parathyroid hormone levels in patients with upper urinary calculiZhang Jing, Wang Guozeng, Jiang Ning
(Department of Urology, Gongli Hospital, Pudong New Area of Shanghai, Shanghai 200135, China)ABSTRACT: Objective To study the sex hormone and parathyroid hormone levels in patients with upper urinary calculi and their significance in diagnosis. Methods The levels of Testo, E2, PRL, LH, FSH and PTH were measured in 52 patients (34 males, 18 females) with upper urinary calculi and 40 healthy controls (20 males, 20 females). Results The serum levels of Testo, PRL, LH and PTH were higher and the serum level of E2 was lower than those in the male controls with upper urinary calculi respectively (P<0.05). And the levels of PRL and PTH were higher than those in the female controls (P<0.05). Other sex hormone levels in the two female groups were not different significantly. Conclusion Sex hormone had some effects on the male patients with upper urinary calculi and parathyroid hormone had a certain influence on urolithiasis. ......
