Abstract
AIM: To study the clinical and pathological features of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) in the stomach.
METHODS: The clinical and pathological data of 2 patients with primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the stomach were analyzed, and the related literatures were reviewed.
RESULTS: The first case was a 71-year-old man with epigastralgia and dark stools. The second case was a 34-year-old man with epigastralgia and vomiting. The tumors in both cases were big in size, offwhite in color and located in the submucosal layer of posterior wall of gastric corpus. Histologically, it was composed of a mixture of pleomorphic fibroblast-like spindle cells, focally arranged in a storiform pattern, oval or round histiocyte-like cells and inflammatory cells. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells expressed vimentin, CD68, lysozyme and alpha-1-antitrypsin, but were negative for other markers.
CONCLUSION: MFH of the stomach is rare, and its pathological feature is similar to MFH of the soft tissue ......
