Relationship between serum Lipoprotein(a) concentration and restenosis after elective coronary stenting

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the relationship between serum Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] level and restenosis after elective coronary stenting by coronary artery angiography (CAG) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). METHODS: The study consisted of 128 patients (LAD 59£¬ LCX 34£¬ RCA 35) with successful coronary stent placement. Followª²up CAG and IVUS were performed at the 6th month after stent placement. Diameter stenosis ¡Ý50% on CAG was regarded as inª²stent restenosis. Neoª²intimal areas (IA) , stent volume (SV) and neoª²intimal volume (IV) were measured by IUVS during followª²up. According to the serum Lp(a) level, lesions were divided into 2 groups: high Lp(a) group (serum Lp(a) ¡Ý230 mg/L) and low Lp(a) group (serum Lp(a)<230 mg/L). RESULTS: Total restenosis rate was 28.1%. The age, sex and risk factors of coronary heart disease (hypertension, diabetes, smoking) had no significant differences between restenotic and nonrestenotic group (P>0.05). The resª²tenotic group had higher Lp(a) level [(316¡À128) mg/L] than nonrestenotic group [(196¡À100) mg/L] and control group [(59¡À32) mg/L] (P<0.01 ......
