[Abstract] Objective To determine the levels of phosphorylase(TP)and dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase(DPD)in gastric cancer and adjacent normal tissue to provide a basis for the clinical use of capecitabine.Methods Forty-five cases of gastric cancer that underwent radical resection fromMay2001to December2001were enrolled in the study.The contents ofTP and DPD in gastric cancer and adjacent normal tissue were determined by ELISA.The TP to DPD ratios in the cancer and adjacent normal tissue were compared.Results TP content was2.6fold higher in tumor tissue(1419.60ng/ml)than in the adjacent normal tissue(265.00ng/ml)(P=0.000).the contents of DPD in tumor tissue(148.86ng/ml)compared with normal tissue(142.06ng/ml)did not show statistical significance(P=0.623).TP to DPD ratio ......
