     Effect of aqueous extract from Ganoderma Lucidum on levels of serum insulinlike growth factorI in restraint stressed mice

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the effect of aqueous extract from Ganoderma Lucidum on levels of serum insulinlike growth factorI (IGFI) in restraint stressed mice. METHODS: The different doses of aqueous extract from Ganoderma Lucidum were given orally for 10 d in mice before restraint stress, and its serum IGFI was assayed by using the radioimmunoassay (RIA) after restraint stress for 20 h. RESULTS: The level of serum IGFI in restraint stressed mice given aqueous extract from 8 g/(kg·d)Ganoderma Lucidum before restraint stress was increased by 32% as compared with that in restraint stress control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Taking orally aqueous extract from Ganoderma Lucidum could resist the decrease of serum IGFI due to restraint stress in mice, and could prevent or alleviate damages aroused by the restraint stress in mice. ......
