A new flavonone from seeds of Alpinia katsumadai and its neuroprotective effect on PC12 cells
2.3Extraction and isolation Seeds of A. katsumadai (10.0 kg) were refluxed in 95% EtOH for three times(3 h each time). After removal of the solvent under a reduced pressure, the extract(485 g) was subjected to silica gel column with fast elution of petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and acetone to afford four fractions. The ethyl acetate elute(137 g) was chromatographed over a silica gel with a gradient elution of petroleum ether-acetone(20∶1-2∶1) to obtain five fractions(S1-S5).
