     As aforementioned， NO is one of the pivotal players in inflammation process， and rheumatoid arthritis is associated with inflammation. Because the bark of this plant is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis， the compounds were assayed inhibitory activity against NO production in LPS stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. The result showed that compound 1 exhibited NO production inhibitory effect with IC50 value of 14.49 μmol·L-1(IC50 value of positive control at 0.16 μmol·L-1) and it has no cytotoxicity in the tested concentrations. However other lignans were inactive. The presence of unsaturated ketone group might be necessary for the activity revealed from this result and previous research ^[9].
