The Study of the Relationship between Single_nucleotide Polymorphismof Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products and Coronary Angiography in a Po sitive.HOU Xu_wei, JIN Jian_fen, HAN Shu_li, et al. Hangzhou First People's Hospital,Zhejing 310006, China
[Abstract] Objective To study the role of single_nucleotide po lymorphism (SNP) of Receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) in the o ccurrence and evolution of atherosclerosis.Methods 221 angiographically diagnosed CAD (CAD+ grou p) and 208 non_CAD subjects (CAD_group) were enrolled in our study. Subjects wi th diabetes mellitus were excluded. The genotyping of RAGE SNP was performed byPolymerase Chain Reaction_Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism.Results theSer/Ser genotype and the Ser allele in CAD+group were significantly higher tha n that in CAD_group(P=0.007 and P<0.001 respectively). The numbers ofdiseasedvessels in Ser/Ser carriers were markedly higher than those in the Gly/Ser and G ly/Gly carriers(both P<0.05). Logistic regression analyses showed the pre sence of Ser/Ser genotype was a risk factor for CAD (P<0.001).Conclusions The data suggests a positive association between theSNP of RAGE gene and CAD in a non_diabetic Chinese cohort. ......
