[Abstract] Objective To explore the quantitative suction way to reduce the blood residue in the end of central venous catheter end and the needle free joint. Methods All 120 severe patients in neurological department with central venous catheter was divided into two groups (59 cases in the control group and 61 cases in the observation group). The control group were used conventional suction way to judge whether indwelling needle was in the vein. The main lumen capacity of the observation group were calculated for quantitative suction. Results The residual blood in the end of central venous catheter and needle free joint of the observation group was 3.42%, which was 21.92% of the control group. Conclusion Quantitative suction way can significantly reduced the residual blood in the end of central venous catheter and needle free joint, which can effectively prevent the residual blood in the end of central venous catheter and needle free joint with severe patients.
