[Abstract] Objective To investigate the effect of cefazolin sodium pentahydrate on infection prevention after fracture and its therapeutic effectiveness. Methods 80 patients with fractures after surgery admitted in our hospital from January 2015 to July 2017 were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received intravenous infusion of cefazolin sodium. The study group received intravenous infusion of cefazolin sodium pentahydrate. The general data, treatment effects, inflammatory factors, and quality of life scores(QOL) were compared between the two groups. Results The treatment effective rate(95.0%) of the study group was better than that of the control group(57.5%), and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The expression level of inflammatory factors including IL-6(173.3±22.1)pg/mL, TNF-α(43.3±1.1)pg/mL and IL-8 (343.3±78.1)pg/mL in the control group was higher than IL-6(131.1±14.5)pg/mL, TNF-α(21.4±0.7)pg/mL, IL-8(221.3±46.1)pg/mL in the study group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The QOL scores including physical condition(74.2±2.4)points, behavior(68.6±2.6)points, self-rated quality of life(72.5±3.2)points and social activities(70.4±3.7)points in the control group were lower than those of study group[(83.3±3.8)points, (83.3±5.8)points, (83.9±6.3)points and(81.3±4.9)points] after treatment. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The use of cefazolin sodium pentahydrate in the treatment of postoperative patients with fractures has effectively improved the patient's quality of life score, effectively reduced the expression of inflammatory factors, and the treatment effect is good. It is worth further clinical promotion in hospitals.,
