    [Abstract] Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is distinguished by incomplete reversible limitation of airflow， with high morbidity， high mortality， high disability rate， heavy disease burden and other characteristics， and it has become a major chronic disease that seriously endangers public health. Self-management is the key factor for effective control of COPD， and improving patients’ self-management ability is a powerful method to help alleviate the development of symptoms of COPD， and the selection of appropriate assessment tools has a positive impact on improving self-management ability of COPD patients. Based on the above， we discussed the definition and theoretical basis of patients with COPD. Besides， we also summarized the current domestic and foreign research status of patients with COPD self-management， clear at home and abroad commonly used assessment tools to evaluate the real effect of patients with COPD self-management， for patients with COPD in China self management and assessment tools of related research play a role.
