【摘要】《面纱》主要描述了一对英国夫妇无爱的婚姻，以及他们在中国生活的故事，丈夫发现妻子出轨后带她去了湄潭府。那里霍乱疫情肆虐，尸体遍地，人心惶惶。丈夫到达后就救助病人，他采取的措施主要有隔离病人、掩埋尸体、净化水源，从中我们可以看出当时的医疗条件以及人类应对疾病所做的努力。
