Minimally invasive dynamic hip screw versus conventional dynamic hip screw for intertrochanteric fractures in the elderly:an updat
Abstract:Objective To compare the outcome and safety of the minimally invasive dynamic hip screw(MIDHS)technique and the conventional dynamic hip screw(CDHS)technique for intertrochanteric fractures in the elderly.Method We searched the database of PubMed,EMBASE,the Cochrane Library,CNKI and VIP from inception to August 2015 for relevant randomized controlled trials(RCTs)without language restriction. References of all the selected articles were hand-searched for any additional trials. Two authors independently extracted data from all eligible studies, including study design, participants, interventions, and outcomes(wound size, surgery time, intraoperative blood loss, length of hospital stay,Harris hip score and severe complications). Data were analyzed using fixed-effects and random-effects models with mean differences and risk ratios for continuous and dichotomous variables, respectively.
Results Eight studies involving 612 patients were identified in this analysis. The meta-analysis showed smaller wound size(WMD,-7.12;95% CI,-7.68,-6.56,respectively),shorter surgery time(WMD ......
