     Arronet, George Heinrich, Montréal; Friedrich-Wilhelms Universitaet, Berlin, 1939, obstetrics and gynecology. Died Dec. 28, 2005, aged 92; survived by his wife, Hildegard von Arronet, daughter Cornelia Nihon, son-in-law Alexis and grandchildren Sofia, Alexis, Philip and Julia. "He was internationally renowned for his success in infertility treatment and founded the Infertility Centre at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montréal."

    Bellemare, Bertrand, Charlesbourg, Que.; Université Laval, 1943, public health. Died Oct. 29, 2005, aged 89.

    Friesen, Howard Calvin, London, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1952. Died Jan. 8, 2006, aged 82; survived by his wife Mary and siblings Leona, Eleanor (Art), Colin (Muriel) and Douglas (Doreen). "He served in the medical corps for peaceful duties in Italy."

    Gelfand, Morrie Moses, Montréal; McGill University, 1950, obstetrics and gynecology. Died Nov. 21, 2005, aged 80. "He was former chief of obstetrics and gynecology and an internationally recognized expert in menopause treatment and research. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 1989 and was a past president of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Quebec, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and the North American Menopause Society."

    Hanham, William James, Troy, NC; University of Toronto, 1955. Died Dec. 5, 2005, aged 74. "He had a wonderful wit and an awareness of world affairs. He was a true renaissance man, and in the field of the intellect, unchallenged."

    Henderson, Rowland Ernest, Victoria; McGill University, 1938, otolaryngology. Died Mar. 18, 1999, aged 87.

    Jokay, Emil, Etobicoke, Ont.; Univerzita Karlova, Praha, 1959, pediatrics. Died Nov. 24, 2005, aged 71; survived by his wife and best friend, Eva, children Martin and Marcella, son-in-law, Gary Myers, and much loved grandchildren, Max and Jake. "He will be missed by all."

    Rotstein, Murray Louis, North York, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1948. Died Jan. 15, 2006, aged 81. "He was a founding member of Northwestern General Hospital and was a devoted physician, serving the community for over 50 years."

    Scrimgeour, William George, Parkhill, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1950. Died Jan. 21, 2006, aged 83; survived by his wife, Marion, daughter Jacqueline, son Robert and grandchildren Darren, Rachel and Ethan.

    Sellers, Clayton Stewart, Wellesley, Ont.; University of Western Ontario, 1951. Died Jan. 9, 2006, aged 78; survived by his wife, June, and daughters Kathy and Dr. Laurie Sellers. "He provided dedicated, compassionate medical care to the residents of Wellesley and surrounding area for over 40 years. On one remarkable day, by coincidence, he had office visits with four generations of the same family."

    Stewart, Robert James, Edmonton; University of Alberta, 1950, anesthesia. Died Mar. 15, 2005, aged 74.

    Webber, William Alexander, Vancouver; University of British Columbia, 1958, internal medicine. Died Jan. 23, 2006, aged 71; survived by his wife, Marilyn, children Susan, Eric and Geordie and their families. "His many awards include the Killam University Teaching Award, the President's Service Award for Excellence in 1999 and an Honorary Degree (LLD) from UBC in 2000. He was appointed Dean of Medicine at UBC in 1977 and filled his role with distinction, serving 13 years — the longest term of any Dean of Medicine at UBC."
