Due to a programming error, Table 3 in this paper contained incorrect values. The corrected Table 3 is shown here. The phase distribution of protosplice sites is not nearly uniform as claimed in the paper but is, nevertheless, substantially different from the phase distribution of introns. The error was contained in a stand-alone program used to generate the phase distributions and, accordingly, does not affect the main results and conclusions of the paper. We apologize for any inconvenience this mistake might have caused.
